Backwards Broadway is the signature annual event for Moreton Bay Theatre Company. It is a gender-altering cabaret which raises awareness for mental health issues and the LGBTQ+ community. Inspired by the annual Broadway Cares charity event on the Great White Way, Backwards Broadway was the debut production for MBTC in 2018, and returns this year with the theme, “We Are Who We Are”.

Performances will be held from July 18th to August 10th, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. They will be at the NeverLand Theatre, 5A/4-6 Burke Crescent, North Lakes.
Rehearsals will be conducted on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays weekly from April 30th.
Due to the nature of a cabaret, not all cast members will be required at each rehearsal.

Auditions will be held on Sunday, April 27th at The Corso, North Lakes, from 10am-6pm.
Each auditionee will be allocated a ten-minute vocal audition time before or after the dance call. Both auditions are compulsory.
To apply, please fill in the Audition form and attach your headshot and CV as well as any unavailability you may have. We also welcome any
information on what shows like Backwards Broadway mean to you.

Please contact marketing@mbtc.com.au should you require any further information.

The dance audition will take place from 1:00-2:15 and will include a general and advanced (optional) routine. An optional (but highly-encouraged) tap audition will take place, tap shoes are not compulsory, but recommended. All auditioning performers must complete the general dance audition to be considered for a part.
For the vocal audition, please prepare two contrasting musical theatre pieces. One song must be gender-reversed, the second is entirely your choice. If you are unsure of what to sing, please contact us. We will send you simple audition songs (this is suited to performers who are keen to dance, but are not strong singers).

See you on the 27th!
